This is a very late thank-you card for my sweet (step) sister Kori. For Christmas she had one of my Dad's Hawaiian shirts made into a Memory Bear for me. My Dad passed away 5 years ago this month from esophageal cancer. No words can express how thankful I am for her extremely thoughtful gift.
My card is for this week's MFTWSC55. I flipped the sketch on it's side. I stamped Jolinne-Friends Forever in Memento Ink on Neenah, coloring with Copics. I used Prismacolored Pencils and OMS for the ground shading. I paper pieced the teddy bear with some DSP I had on hand, it was as close to Hawaiian print paper I could get=) Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, Marvelous Magenta cardstock, CB folder, SU Ribbon, and Rolled Rose Die-namic.
Sharp's Hospital in La Mesa, CA has some very wonderful volunteers that make these Memory Bears. Tanya, thank you so much for sending me the message from my blog about the memory bears I make for Sharp Hospice. It's lovely to read your thoughts on the bear your sister requested for you. I didn't make yours, but I know the love and care that went into it. We volunteers kind of get to know the person who wore the clothing we use and are quite aware of the person who will be receiving it, too. We know we are doing something special and that someone is trusting us with precious material to preserve loving memories. It's an honor to be one of many volunteers to do this. Nothing I do gives me greater satisfaction, and your post reinforces that this is good thing.
