Prickly...

My best friend, Jeremy started a tradition that we cook each other dinner requested by the other for their birthday.  It's by far one of my all time favorite traditions ever.  I'm lucky to have such a great best friend who has a great sense of humor!  Each year for his birthday I try to make him a humorous card.  Here's what I came up with for this year.

Prickly...
Jeremy likes to measures "how much I like a person/how much they mean to me" by how many layers I use on their card, lol.  It's an ongoing joke with every card.  He makes sure he counts the layers when I make him and his wife (my bestie too) a card and pokes fun if he feels there's not enough layers, ha!  Anyhow...I used Garden Green, Black, and White cardstock.  My Favorite Thinds Sweet Succulents Stamp Set, stamping the pot and cutting it out, adhering it with pop dots for dimension.  My hubs printed the sentiment for me.

Ride On...

I made this card to thank my surgeon for suggesting that I take up cycling.  I've had 3 ankle surgeries the last 3 years and am unable to do pretty much all of the gym classes I was taking due to the surgeries and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.  My surgeon told me on my last visit with him that he felt bad that I'm not able to do the physical activities I loved and wished that I could fall in love with another activity like I have for my gym classes. He then suggested I take up cycling.  It took me about 2 weeks to find the nerve to road cycle where I live, but...I did it!!!  In the 5 weeks that I started cycling, I put 600 miles on my bike...I'm happy to say I have fallen in love with cycling!!!

I used a retired stamp from Stamping Bella.  Stamped on Neenah with Memento Ink, coloring with Copics.  Sentiment made using a retired stamp set from My Favorite Things.  SU Corner Punch, Denami Design Ribbon.  SU Cool Caribbean cardstock.

Thank you for stopping by!

Thank You Chickie...

It's been forever since I made any cards and blogged...let's see if I remember how to do this!
I made this card a while ago, found it on my camera and to be honest, I can't remember who I made it for or why =(  Been a crazy time for me while I wasn't creating.  I hope to get back into the swing of things again.

I stamped Denami Design Patriotic Chickie in Memento Ink on Neenah cardstock, coloring it with Copics.  Cherry Cobbler and Night of Navy Cardstock, SU Square Punch, SU Scalloped Circle Punch, Cuttlebug Folder, a button and twine to finish off the card.

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a great weekend!!!

Botanical Butterfly Birthday...

Seems like I'm always late with my Mother-in-laws Birthday Card.  I feel so terrible every year and vow to get her card out on time.  Her Birthday was the 11th, I made her card that day...sigh.  Then it sat on my desk for like a week before I even got it in the mail=(  Fingers crossed next year she will have a card arrive before her birthday!

I started out stamping Botanical Butterflies in Memento Ink on Neenah, coloring with Copics.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks- Scattered Straw and Vintage Photo to sponge aroung the edges.  Tangerine Tango, Black, and Crumb Cake Cardstock, a page from a book, Nesties, Die-namics, SU Square Punch, Sentiment from The Cat's Pajamas, Denami Design Button, SU Linen Thread, and a Rhinestone.  For the layout I used FTL223.

Now for week #28's RAK/PIF Challenge- (for anyone that would like to join in RAK'ing/PIF, please feel free.  These are just ideas, do as you're able to, or change them as you need to...the idea is to inspire you to do random acts of kindness and pay it forward.  Please come back to share what RAK you did or how you PIF, I'd love to hear what everyone has done!  You can read my original post about it here).

Please pick one-
1- Share your hobby with a group, child/children, or friend.
2- Bring some hot tea/container of tea bags to someone you know who hasn't felt well.
3- Make some oatmeal cookies for a new neighbor or drop them off to a gate guard (if you have a base near by), your doctor's office, a fire station, police station, or give them to a homeless person.
4- Get some puzzles and drop them off at a children's shelter, homeless shelter, or any type of crisis center that helps children.
5- If a friend, co-worker, family member etc. has recenlty lost weight, pay them a compliment and encourage them to continue with their weight loss journey.
6- Bring some Peanut Butter and Jelly to your local food pantry.
7- Make a chocolate cake for someone who needs cheering up or to celebrate a special day- got a promotion, license, a job, or just good news in general.
8- Tell your spouse/partner how much you appreciate them and love them =)

I had great intentions but was down in bed from my procedure longer than I anticipated.  So, I didn't get to do the couple of things I picked out (write an elderly loved one a letter and I was going to make our new neighbors brownies). Yesterday (the last day for the week) I had a spouses meeting at a dessert lounge.  When it was time to pay, I picked up the check for a deployed spouse.

How did everyone else do???

Thank-you so much for stopping by.
Have a wonderful night.

Halloween Thank-you...

My spouse's group put together a Halloween Party for the kiddos a couple weeks ago.  I made a couple of cards to thank a few people for all of their help.  One of our spouse's was kind enough to offer to take pictures during the party...which turned out great!  We also had a lot of help from my hubs troops...they carried tables up to the second floor for us, set them up, even decorated the room for us!  We appreciated all of their help so very much!!!

I kept my card very simple, using FTL215.  I started out with a Crumb Cake card base.  I used a Pumpkin Pie Marker with the SU Spritzer Tool.  Die-namics Halloween Charms, going over them with Stickles, Die-namics Spider Web, going over them with Smooch Tuxedo, then adding orange pearls for the eyes.  Die-namics Double Dot Border and Big Greetings Stamp Set.

My grandboys at the Halloween Party.
Woody- Wylie (3 1/2 yrs)
Buzz- Connor (2 yrs)

Thank-you for stopping by.
Have a great weekend!

Santa's Clothes...

Last year I participated for most of the year in Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge, however this year I have slacked terribly.  I'm not sure I will be able send out homemade cards at this point=(

Anyhow this is my entry for SCCC48 which is to use Liquid Applique.  It's also my entry for this weeks Bellarific Friday Challenge, to use Snow on your card.  I loved Clean & Simple Stamping Sketch 164 so much I used it again for my card.

I stamped Santa's Clothes a Dryin' in Memento Ink on Neenah, coloring with my copics.  I outlined the image with a glitter pen.  I used Liquid Applique on the Snowflake, Santa Hat and Pants and made some Snow on the ground.  I sprinkled the Liquid Applique with Glamour Dust then heated it to make it puff up.  Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake cardstock, A Muse Sentiment, Button and Linen Thread.

I hope you all have a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by.

Webful of Thanks...

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
I made this for one of the ladies in our spouse's group to thank her for putting together the Children's Halloween Party last week.  All her time, effort, and hard work is much appreciated!
I used Clean & Simple Stamping Sketch 164.  This is my first time playing along in their sketch challenge.  I stamped the spider from Web Wishes, coloring the hat with copics, I went over her with a glaze pen and a glitter pen over the candy bag.  I stamped the web in Going Grey then went over it with a glitter pen.  Sentiment from Much Appreciated.  Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black paper, SU punches...Clean & Simple=)
Have a Happy Halloween and please be safe tonight while you're out and about with your munchins.
