Warm Welcome...

I made a few of these cards to welcome the spouses who will be joining us at our monthly social for the first time on Wednesday.  We're going to my favorite Italian place to eat, Zona 78.  They have the best Bianco Pizza and their salads are delish!

I started out using Michelle Zindorf's brayering technique.  First I punched out a 1 3/8 inch circle, using the SU Circle Punch on Sticky Notes.  I masked the sun.  Then on Whisper White cardstock I brayered Daffodil Delight just past then sun, from right to left.  Then I used Pumpkin Pie and brayerd about 2/3 the way down right to left.  Then on the left side.  Then again with Cajun Craze, about 1/4 the way down on the right side and about 1/2 the way on the left side.  I took off the mask and used the negative from the punch, lined it up and sponged Daffodil Delight, then Cajun Craze.  Next I tore a piece of scrap paper to make the hills and sponged Basic Black.  Then I stamped the Saguaro from Ride em Cowgirl (I think it may be retired?) in Basic Black then took a marker and filled it in to make a silhouette.  I used a white gel pen to add highlights to the Saguaro and the hill.  I mounted my main panel on a Basic Black layer, then a Daffodil Delight layer.  I used a sentiment from PI Soldier Boy, masking off what I didn't want=)  Die-namics Notched Border, SU Photo Corner Punch, Button, and Twine.  My entry for this weeks MFTWSC76.

Thank-you for stopping by, have a great night!

The Places You'll Go...

My best friend's son is graduating High School next week.  It feels like yesterday we were all in Colorado Springs and David was just a wee little guy.  Where does the time go???

I stamped Oliver from TGF Stamps Set OA-Journey in Memento Ink on Neenah, coloring with Copics.  Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, My Minds Eye American Made and Echo Park Dots and Stripes paper.  Die-namics Chevron Border and Notched Border.  Sentiment from Stamping Bella (Bye Bye Boy by Mo Manning).  This is my entry for this weeks TGFSC17.

Thank-you for stopping by, have a great night!

Honor Flight...

I made this card to thank my hubs First Shirt for letting me know about the welcome home at the airport for the WWII Vets from DC.  It was an experience I will cherish, one that touched my heart and brought tears welling up in my eyes several times.

I started off coloring PI Soldier Boy in Memento Ink on Neenah, coloring with Copics.  I fussy cut him out and put him on a Cherry Cobler layer that I ran through my CB.  My Minds Eye and Echo Park Paper.  I stamped the sentiment on Sahara Sand and used a SU Punch to make the tab.  Denami Design Button and Twine.  My layout is MFTWSC75.

Thank-you for stopping by, have a great day!

Welcome...

I had two neighbors move in the same weekend...a month ago.  I feel so bad that I haven't properly greeted them yet.  We met our neighbors across the street the day they were moving in and I just happen to met the other ones this evening.  I made them both cards and lime pies today and will drop them off tomorrow.  Here's the cards I made them...
I used CAS171, it was a sketch.  I stamped the house in Cherry Cobbler on Crumb Cake, Mounting it on a Nigh of Navy panel.  I stamped Welcome from the SU set Warm Words using my new Stamp-a-ma-jig (where has that thing been all my life?).  I mounted the Crumb Cake panel on a Cherry Cobbler panel then on a Crumb Cake base.  Very Clean and Simple!

My card actually goes with some pictures I wanted to share with you from last night.  I can't explain the emotion I felt welcoming home the WWII Veterans from their Honor Flight to DC.  My friend asked me to bring a camera to take pictures for the media who couldn't be there.  I brought two, one for her and one for me=)  So, below is some pictures I took of the evening.  Keep in mind I am not a photographer, lol...

My picture partner and her hubby=)

The Welcoming Crowd=)

She was so sweet!

I wished I got a better picture of her sign!

Some of the Vets came down the escalator...

While others took the elevator...

They each had an escort.

The beginning of the receiving line.

These two were the first down the receiving line.

And the last down the receiving line.

My hubs in the middle=)

If you made it this far, thank-you for taking the time to look at my photos and get a glimpse of what my night was like.  I honeslty can't put into words the emotion I felt seeing these Veterans come down the escalator or round the corner from the elevator then make their way down the receiving line.  I fought back tears as I took pictures.  It's moments like these that make me love being a military wife even more than I already do.  Thank-you so much for visiting my blog today!

Happy Birthday Jayden!!!

My friends (and fabulous hairdresser!) daughter Jayden is turning 6 tomorrow.  Jayden also has a passion for card making.  When I stayed with them in March she showed me all her stamps and coloring materials.  I went to all the scrapbooking stores before arriving so I showed her all my goodies.  She oohed and aahed=).  When I went up again last month I brought two bags full of paper, stamps and supplies I wasn't using for her.  Chelsea took a video of Jayden opening the bags, she squeeled with delight, totally made my day.  Chelsea said her favorite thing to do is to go to Michael's and pick out scrapbook paper so she can make cards for her friends.  Hmmm...I wonder what's in her birthday card???
I haven't used my TGF Stamps in a long time and thought I'd get them out.  I started out stamping Fleur Anya in Memento Ink on Neenah, coloring with Copics.  I used Stickles on the centers of the flowers.  Melon Mambo paper, Nesties, Denami Design Ribbon, Rhinestones, and sentiment from The Cat's Pajamas.  I wanted to keep my card very Clean and Simple...plus I was a little short on time.  I used this weeks TGFSC16.
I hope you have a great weekend.  I'm off to a retirement ceremony.  Then hubs and I are going to welcome the WWII Vets home from DC with his squadron.  Thank-you for stopping by!

Happy Retirement Major Stelling!!!

Another one of my hubs co-workers is retiring tomorrow.  Major Stelling is such a sweet lady and so excited to retire and just be a mommy to her children.  I know she will enjoy being a stay at home mom=)  This is the card I made for her to celebrate her special day...
I won this super cute digital image, Lollipop Independence Julie a few months ago from BLD.  I printed a sheet full of her on Neenah paper as soon as I won her so the ink had time to settle and dry.  I'm happy to say I had no issues with the smearing or bleeding, yay!  Anyhow,  I colored her with Copics.  I added a Glitter Pen to the American Flag and the white bits in her dress and a Glaze Pen to her shoes.  Riding Hood Red and MME American Made Paper, Nesties, Die-namics Stacking Stars, and SU Photo Corner Punch.  My sentiment is from the MFT set Big Greetings.  I used this month's SFYTT.  This is my first time playing along in a challenge with the gals at The Pink Elephant.  This weeks TPE151 is to use Vibrant colors.  My hubs and I debated back and forth whether this was considered "Vibrant" for the challenge, he was thinking it was more "Bold"...humph.  Ah well, I'll give it a go...

Happy Birthday Audrey!!!

Our friends daughter's birthday was over the weekend.  She turned 3 and celebrated at Monkey Business (my hubs says it's like Chuck E. Cheese but the pizza is yummier, lol).  Our daughter and grandkids went with us.  Connor kept taking the Ski Balls and running off with them...last year it was Wylie who was doing that, lol!  Here's the card I made for Audrey...

I started off stamping PI My Balloon in Memento Ink, on Neenah, coloring with Copics.  I used a Glitter Pen on her waistband and barrett and a Glaze Pen on her balloon and shoes.  Rich Razzleberry, Pool Party, and MME paper.  SU Lucky Limeade Ribbon, SU Twine, Denami Design Button, Die-namics Notched Border, CB Folders, and SU Photo Corner Punch.  My layout is MFTWSC72.  One more sketch and I'll be all caught up again and on track for my goal at completing every sketch each week for the year=)

A couple pictures my daughter and I took of my hubs and the boys at Monkey Business...

A Ray of Sunshine...

A couple days ago I spent the day up in Phoenix with one of my girlfriends.  We had lunch, did some shopping, tried to see a castle but it was closed=(  We went to an Art Center but it wasn't what we expected so we ended up at an Aquarium that was in a mall.  I made her a card to thank her for the day out.

I started out stamping PI Sprinkler Girl in Memento Ink on Neenah, coloring with Copics.  I made a boo-boo coloring the grass so I stamped the image again and cut my original image out and pieced her on.  I paper pieced her bathing suit as well.  I added a Glaze pen to the hose and water.  Pool Party, Melon Mambo, EP Summer Days Paper, Nesties, Die-namice Pretty Posies, Die-namics Scallop Border, CD Folder, Denami Design Button, Rhinestones and Twine.  Inside says, "You're a little ray of Sunshine".  Which is exactly what my friend is=)  This is my entry for this weeks MFTWSC74

Thank-you for stopping by!
Have a great week!
