But It's a Dry Heat...

September 11th...I'm sure we all remember where we were 11 years ago today.  We were stationed in Germany, my daughter was the one who called me to tell me what happened.  She didn't understand really what was going on and told me a bomb had gone off in the US.  Being overseas things were so different for us than what is was for our Americans stateside, we weren't experiencing the same thing.  I remember flying home that December for my husbands father's memorial and felt America had changed.  Tho we know what 9/11 is and know the tragic events that happened that day, we weren't exposed to all that the US was.  There's so much about 9/11 that I don't know, but one thing I know for sure...it is one day in my life that I know I'll never forget and will always remember where I was and what I was doing.  I'm so grateful and thankful to my military family who serve and who have given the ultimate sacrifice protecting our freedom.  My thoughts and prayers are with all the victims and friends and families of the victims for their loss.

Ok...onto my card=)  I made a dozen of these cards to welcome the spouse's of my hubs squadron that arrived here over the summer.  I know how it is to arrive at a new base and not know the town or anyone in it, so I wanted them to know I'm here if they need anything.  I thought I'd welcome the spouse's with a little humor- It's always a joke here in AZ, that no matter how hot it is...it can be 110 out and someone will say, "but it's a dry heat"...lol, yah, it is but it's still hot!

Anyhow, I kept my cards CAS...one because I was making so many of them and two because I wanted to play along in this weeks CAS-ual Fridays Challenge which is embossing.  I started off stamping the Saguaro from the My Favorite Things Ride em Cowgirl set in Memento Ink on Neenah, coloring with Copics.  I used the SU 1 3/8 Circle Punch then the SU Scallop Circle Punch on Black cardstock.  I stamped my sentiment then used the SU Square Punch to make the banners.  For my embossing I used the CB Swiss Dot Folder then layered it on Black Cardstock and mounted it on my white cardstock base.  Denami Design Ribbon, SU Baker's Twine and a button.

Thank-you for stopping by!  Have a great night!
