Happy Retirement Bob!!!

For my cycling friend, Bob to wish him a Happy Retirement!
Happy Retirement Bob!!!

For our Dirty Dozen Theme this month, we were tasked with adding texture to our cards.  Some ideas given were- to use sand, sandpaper, grit medium, glitter, distress embossing powder, or to use  sandpaper to distress our panel.  For the texture portion of my card I used sand, applied with paperglaze.

The supplies I used were-
Viva Las Vegas Stamps Southwest Pots & Cacti, My Favorite Things Life's a Beach Sentiment.
Scraps of Love Arizona Die Set, Sand, Paperglaze, White Embossing Powder.

Thank you for having a peek at my blog!

Habanero Thank You...

Hubs took my car in for an oil change before our trip to Idaho to see our daughter, son-in-law, and granboys and came home with a brand new Habanero Orange Jetta for me.  If you know me, you know this is the color of car I've been wanting for 2 years now.  In the picture it looks a bit red, but it's orange with some gold shimmer to it.  I made a thank you for the finance guy, Nathaniel.  He had me pick out a shirt when I came to pick up my car after it was tinted and the ceramic coating was put on it.
I've had this VW Symbol stamp for years from Viva Las Vegas Stamps.  If you're ever in Las Vegas and have time, I highly recommend going.  It's right off the strip, a little hard to find but it is such a fun and quirky stamp store.  You never know what you are going to find in there.  Anyhow, I stamped the VW Symbol in Smoky Slate card stock as my vision started out one way and went another...I used a clear star gel pen to highlight the symbol and a glaze pen to fill in the shadows.  Layered it on Only Orange card stock that has carrot smooch, pop dots for dimension.  Next I used the A2 Stitch and High Rise Lower Case Alphabet die-namics from My Favorite Things and ran it through the cuttlebug.  Then I took a piece of Only Orange card stock and colored it with carrot smooch and put it behind the thank you.  Mounted it on a black card stock base and wha-la...

Most expensive oil change ever, ha!

Thank you for stopping by.
Enjoy the rest of you Sunday.

Welcome to DMAFB...

I'd like to start off my post by asking all of you to say a prayer for my brother Tony.  As many of you know he has bladder cancer.  The cancer has spread and today he's having surgery to remove his bladder.  Thank-you to everyone for their love and support they've given me on FB.
Today marks 6 months that I've been working at Making Memories Unforgettable...where has the time gone?  I have met some of the most wonderful ladies working there.  I'd like to thank each of them for their support and for sharing their lives with me.  I've enjoy seeing their scrapbook pages and hearing the stories behind the pictures.  Thank-you ladies for a great 6 months!
Now finally on to my card!  We had a couple new spouses arrive and attend our spouse's meeting last week so I made each of them this card to welcome them.  This stamp is from Viva Las Vegas Stamps.  I bought it online when we got orders, with intent on making our moving cards with it...2 1/2 years later this is the first time it's seen ink!  I stamped my image with Momento Ink on Neenah coloring it in with my copics.  Sentiment from SU Warm Words and Denami Design Ribbon.
Thank-you for stopping by, for your love and support, and for all of your prayers.

World Rare Disease Day, 2011...

Today is World Rare Disease Day.  Are you wearing your Zebra's or Zebra prints to raise awareness for Ehlers Danlos Syndrome?  While I was at the mall Saturday I found a really cute and goofy Zebra shirt for my daughter and I to wear today.  I hope it will bring a smile to someone's day=)  Fingers crossed I remember to take pictures=)
I made this card to "Celebrate" today.  I was diagnosed with EDS a year and a half ago and remember the day my Dr. gave me my diagnosis.  He said something like, "I'm sorry but I've never seen someone be so happy to be diagnosed before".  I won't go into the long story about what happened, but I was happy to know what I was told I had for the 2 previous years was a misdiagnosis=)
Anyhow, my Zebra's are from Viva Las Vegas Stamps.  If you are ever in Las Vegas, it is a fun store to visit.  I stamped them on Neenah c/s with Momento Ink.  I did some shading with my Prismacolor Pencils.  I went over the black stripes with a gel pen.  I used Prismacolor Pencils for the ground, sponged Versamagic Sea Breeze, Ranger Aqua, and Tim Holtz Faded Jean for the sky, making a moon mask with a 1 1/4 inch cirle punch.  I sponged black ink around the edges of the whole card.  I used just a small strip of Zebra Print paper since my image was so big...Soft Sky Ribbon and some random buttons to finish off the card.
Thank-you for stopping by.  Have a great week!
*ETA: I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier, for my crafting friends...you can help raise awareness by making a Zebra/Zebra Print Card.  Since I'm computer challenged, just comment on this post with a link to your card=)  Thank-you for your support!
